The benefit of going “Smart”
The benefit of smart home devices and a glimpse of future that hopefully doesn’t happen!
For the sake of all of us we hope that things wont end up like in the Terminator movies. We sincerely would like to think that in the near and also far future we will find a way to live in harmony with technology, robots and AI.
Hopefully we didn’t scare you off with the beginning of this post and you still want to read on!
Rapid technology advancement
In the past decade the world of smart home devices and smart products in general has been evolving rapidly. For our homes we now have robot vacuum cleaners, smart locks, smart lights, security cameras, smart plugs and outlets, voice controlled hubs, smart pet feeders, intelligent sensors and so on. This list could go on (almost) forever.
The mind-blowing advance in these kind of technologies can be slightly worrying, we get that. You might feel out of control, that your privacy is being violated or just a bit insecure with all the gadgets around you whirring around and sharing information. But there is a good side to all of this. Almost all these kind of products have been developed to help you some way or another. Vacuum cleaners are now highly efficient and can do a lot of cleaning and mopping for you. Security cameras give you the ability to check what’s going on at your house with just a click of a button. Maybe you want to see what your pet is doing while you’re off to work or what did the delivery service bring you (and for ease of mind all security cameras and systems have privacy modes available). Or imagine gifting a digital photo frame to your grandparents and updating it weekly with new photos so they could also enjoy these beautiful captured moments.
All we’re saying is that it’s good to have an open mind about these kind of smart products and at least try them out. Some might suit you, some definitely wont but you never know unless you try. Even if it just 10 minutes a day that you have gained applying some of smart home products it’s already more than 60 hours a year!
The variety of smart home devices
As mentioned above there is a huge choice of different products available and the list is growing bigger by the year. But you don’t have to go “full out” right in the beginning. Meaning you don’t have to build a sophisticated smart home where absolutely everything is automated and connected with each other. Of course you can choose to do it if you want, but most likely the reasonable approach is just to try out a product or two and stick with them when they actually provide value.
If you feel like you want to try something out, here you can see all the products currently available on our site.
A glimpse of what hopefully doesn’t happen
If you haven’t watched it yet we recommend to go and check out the first episode of season two of “Love, Death & Robots“. It’s available on Netflix.
And actually the whole series takes a really good viewpoint about some of the possible issues we might have when things will get smarter and technology advances. We can only wait and see how it will actually turn out!
Wish you all the best!
