iRobot Roomba i3+ vs Shark IQ R101AE
Comparison between two robot vacuums with auto-empty bin function.
Nowadays it’s getting more and more difficult to choose the most suitable robot vacuum cleaner since the sheer number of different products on the market grows by the day and digging through the numbers can be baffling. A while ago situation in the auto-empty bin market was a bit different with only a couple on vacuums to choose from but now this feature is becoming more and more popular. And with a good reason – the whole idea behind a a robot vacuum cleaner is to have somebody else to do the cleaning for you so you could focus on other things in life. So far you still had to clean the robot every time it made it’s run but having an extra bin for all the dust changes it significantly.
So here are two really good midrange robot vacuum cleaners with auto-empty bins. How to choose between them? Well, if to look at the specs then the biggest differences are in case of battery life where Shark IQ R101AE has 90 minutes compared to i3+’s 75 min, side brushes (2 for Shark, 1 for Roomba, although it doesn’t mean one is better than the other) and R101AE has a self-clean function.
On the other hand Shark IQ R101AE takes a much longer time to charge (300min vs 90min), stationary bin can handle 30 days worth of dirt (compared to 60 in case of Roomba) and the onboard bin is much smaller then i3+’s.
Generally Roomba i3+ has a bigger variety of different functions but the price is also on average 100USD higher.
In conclusion it can be said that no matter which product you choose you will get a really good helper in your home who you can leave to do their work for at least for couple of weeks in a row. Shark IQ R101AE is a bit more budget friendly but Roomba is a really known and trustworthy brand.
